The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joseph Fuwape, has commended the efforts of several members of academic staff who recently won research grants worth over Two Hundred and Thirty Million naira from the National Research Fund (NRF) under the aegis of the Tertiary Education Fund, TETFUND. Receiving the seven successful teams, the Vice Chancellor extolled the doggedness of the staff in achieving what he termed a great feat. He said “this is very commendable and has further underlined the academic excellence in our institutions and our pursuit of cutting edge research that will benefit our immediate environment and the society at large.” He noted how proud he was to be associated with such huge success as FUTA researchers won 7 from 128 grants given to participating researchers by the NRF. The Vice-Chancellor expressed optimism that the scope of similar research will widen over time to accommodate industry partnership for overall problem solving.  He said “we believe this is the first step.  It will be upscale to involve industry partnership”.
One of the Principal Researchers and Director of the University’s Centre for Research and Development, Professor Ganiyu Oboh noted that the Centre had set modalities in place to complete projects to time. He said that a Committee had been set up strictly for the purpose of procurement; monitoring and timely delivery on assigned tasks and responsibilities assuring the Vice Chancellor that Team FUTA will discharge its responsibilities creditably well.
