Alumni Make Donation to Department of Geophysics

In response to appeal from the Department of Applied Geophysics on the need to assist the department, two sets of alumni, FUTA/AGP/92 Alumni and FUTA/AGP/93 Alumni have responded promptly by donating Smart TV, Webcam Camera HD, All-in-One HP Computer, HP Laptop and 2.5KVA Solar-Powered inverter to the department to meet urgent needs and facilitate teaching and learning and research activities.

In a memo conveying the receipt of the donated items to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji, the Head, Department of Applied Geophysics who is also a member of FUTA/AGP/92 Alumni, Professor James Akintorinwa wrote, “Based on the letter of appeal written by the department to her alumni on the need to assist the department on her needs, FUTA/AGP/92 Alumni has donated 65” Hisence Smart TV, Webcam Camera HD, All-in One HP Computer (4GB and 250 SSD) and HP Laptop (8GB RAM and 250 SSD) worth of one million, five hundred thousand naira (N1,500,000) to the department.

Similarly, FUTA/AGP/93 Alumni donated two complete installed 2.5 KVA solar powered inverter worth of two million, one hundred and ninety-five thousand naira (N2, 195,000) to the departmental office, library with extension to the potential laboratory. The department is very appreciative of these timely donations which will certainly aid teaching, learning and research activities and pray for abundant blessings upon members of the two groups for remembering their alma mater.”

Responding to the donations, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji expressed her gratitude to the two sets of Alumni of Applied Geophysics for the spirit of give-back to their department and by extension the university. She wrote “I bring you very warm greetings from the management, staff and students of the Federal University of Technology, Akure. I received with much gratitude the report of your donation of 65” Hisence Smart TV, Webcam Camera HD, All-in-One HP Computer (4GB and 250 SSD), and HP Laptop (8GB RAM and 250 SSD) worth One Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N1,500,000) by FUTA/AGP/92 Alumni and donation and installation of 2.5 KVA solar-powered inverter worth over Two Million Naira by FUTA/AGP/93 Alumni to the Department of Applied Geophysics. Apart from the worth of the donations, it is also very timely. Without any doubt, the donations will further improve the operational efficiency in the Department of Applied Geophysics. Management looks forward to more beneficial engagements between FUTA and AGP/92 and AGP/93 Alumni for advancement of frontiers of knowledge. With more graduating classes identifying with the needs of the University, the burden of Management would be lighter and more resources would be freed for innovation and expansion.”

Professor Oladiji described the two sets of Applied Geophysics (92 and 93) as worthy ambassadors of the university with kind mind and urged other products of the University to emulate them.

Mr. Ogunjobi Layi and Adebobuyi Foluwaso for AGP/92 and Mr. Akporherhe Victor and Mr. Abel Sunday for AGP/93 made the donations on behalf of their respective sets
